Michael Abro

Michael Abro is a Certified Family Court Mediator with additional training in Civil Court Mediation and Collaborative Law. She served on the Board of Directors of the Mediation and Meeting Center of Charleston, now known as the Lowcountry Mediation Center. The Lowcountry Mediation Center is an organization dedicated to providing affordable mediation services to parties in need. Michael volunteers time mediating family court cases through both the Lowcountry Mediation Center and the Midlands Mediation Center.

In addition to her mediation practice, Michael serves as an adjunct professor of law. She teaches legal ethics as well as continuing legal education seminars. Michael began her legal career in private practice. Before attending law school, she worked as a family counselor in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and California.

Michael earned her Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law, an Educational Specialist Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Honors College at the University of South Carolina. She is licensed to practice law in the State Court of South Carolina, the Federal District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Michael has completed the examination portion of the requirements for licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is a member of the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, and the Charleston County Bar Association.
